Manson v. Cook County, et al., Case No. 03 C 4716, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Recently, Frankel & Cohen settled the civil rights case of Lawrence Manson, Jr. v. Cook County in 2007. Lawrence Manson was shot by an off-duty Cook County Sheriff's Deputy and paralyzed from the chest down. Even though Lawrence Manson was shot and paralyzed, he was charged with attempted murder of the deputy. Mr. Frankel tried the case before a jury and obtained an acquittal on behalf of Mr. Manson. Later, a civil rights case filed by Frankel & Cohen resulted in a settlement of $4.5 million dollars, which was the largest civil rights settlement of 2007 according to the Chicago Lawyer Magazine survey of settlements.
